FRP threaded rod and nuts are ideal for applications requiring mechanical fasteners that must be non-corrosive, low in conductivity and/or transparent to electromagnetic waves. FRP threaded rods are manufactured by machining a thread into an FRP solid rod. The solid rods are manufactured from premium grade vinyl ester resins using the pultrusion process and are supplied in diametres of 9.5, 12.7, 16, 19 & 25mm (3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8”, 3/4” and 1”). The hex shaped nut is thermoplastic complete with UV inhibitors to provide resistance to corrosion and ultra violet degradation. FRP “bolts” are assembled by cutting the threaded rod to the required length and chemically bonding a thermoplastic nut to one end. In some applications the hex nuts are both chemically bonded and drilled and dowelled.
